The Dark Knight poster and Inception poster
These are The Dark Knight poster and Inception poster; we can see that in some aspects they are very similar, this could be because both films are by the same director, so by using the same style for the Inception posters that was used for The Dark Knight the audience may recognise that the director and will already give the film a reputation.

Inception (Trailer analysis)
The Inception trailer starts off on a slow pace, with what suggests the main character (Leonardo DiCaprio) speaking of something the audience does not know about. As the trailer progresses it becomes more fast pace, with the music becoming fast pace because of the pitch, tone and pace, also by the editing, there becomes a lot more jump cuts, which gives the trailer a faster moving pace. At the start of the trailer were the main character is talking, the dialogue is slow and calm, but again as the trailer moves on the dialogues become faster, and shouting and also different characters are brought in. We can see in the trailer that the genre is thriller, because there is no evidence of horror or any other genres. The trailer does not give the viewer a lot about the plot in the trailer, but just enough to entice the viewer to go and see. This trailer presents a lot of enigmas, which could show that the film is psychologically challenging.

"THEM"
The film "THEM" is a thriller/horror genre film. Me and my group have decided to chose this type of film to create a trailer for, because there is no blood and gore in the film it is more phychological and jumpy horror which would be more effective that us trying to make blood and gore realistic with the technology we are using.
Here is the trailer for "THEM"

Inception (Magazine analysis)
These are two magazine front covers for "INCEPTION". We can see that both magazines, total film and Empire have changed the house style of their magazines to fit inceptions theme. In both covers we see that Leonardo Dicaprio is in a darker light, this could show that he has an element of evil to the film, but seeing as he is the only character on both covers it could show that he is the hero in the film. In the Empire cover we see that the puffs beside Dicaprio are going backwards like they are being "sucked into a blackhole" this could suggest that the film has something to do with travelling through time. In the total film cover we can see that the background is made up of a section of a street filled with buildings; also the title on total film is made up of a birds eye view of buildings, this could strongly suggest that the film story revolves around buildings.
Both magazines have a strict colour scheme which is red, black and dark blue, the red could signify dangers or loves, and the black and dark blue could signify evil.
It is very rare for a magazine to change the house style of their magazines, so for two to change the house style is extremly rare, which could suggest that the film is very good and one to certainly watch. They have done this before for The Dark Knight, the magazines changed their house style. The director Christopher Nolan directed The dark knight, now he has a reputation in making very sucessful films, he has also directed Inception so because of his reputation the magazines and all viewers would expect a very good film, so companies promote the film more because of Nolans reputation.
Brief
I have recently recieved the brief for my media A2 coursework.
I need to produce a film trailer suitable for any audience in Novemember 2010, so the film needs to be suitable for a winter market.
I can either:
I need to produce a film trailer suitable for any audience in Novemember 2010, so the film needs to be suitable for a winter market.
I can either:
- Produce two 60 second trailers in length
- Produce a 1 minute and 20 second trailer in length
- Produce a film magazine cover
- Produce a film poster
I have to produce the film magazine cover and film poster, but can then pick the length of my trailers out of the two.
I will have three months to meet my deadline.

Magzine front cover analysis
After analysing the "INCEPTION" magazine front covers I decided to analyse a magazine front cover of the genre my group is using. I wanted a magazine front cover that wouldn't shout "horror film" so I chose the Total Film edition of Megan Fox's "Jennifer's Body" I chose this because it is not the typical horror front cover which is what I wanted to achieve when creating my front cover.
