The Last Exorcism (Trailer analysis)
The last exorcism trailer, from the beginning shows feature of being a horror film, because it includes a lot of the aspects a horror film would, An old shanty house, set in the middle of no-where, God. The trailer begins with a myth about exorcisms, and also a fact about the reverend whom we are to believe is a major character in the film, the fact and the myth both present enigma's for the audience, and also could suggest that the film is based on a true story although it does not say. The film is playing with people's beliefs about God and about the Devil. The trailer has a majority of fast cuts, which again suggest that it is a horror, because it's fast moving to make people jump or to scare them before they even see the film. The trailer gives a lot about the plot. The film includes a young girl which could also play with peoples emotions. The music through-out the trailer is fast paced which could suggest that it is a fast moving film.

The Last Exorcism (poster analysis)
Poster 1 Poster 2
The posters for the last exorcism are both unique but similar in many ways. They both follow a particular colour scheme by using black and different shades of grays, this shows the film being in the horror/Thriller genre, suggesting that it will be "dark" and "disturbing" to watch, The posters show that the film will not be light-hearted.
There is one character on each of the posters suggesting that she is the main character with the "demons possessing" her; also by the postions she is in they strongly suggest that she is "possessed". There is blood on the females dress again showing that this is a horror film.
On the seccond poster there is the symbol of jesus on the cross, showing the contrast between the devil and God.
The name of the writers and directors of the film are written in red, this adds effect by making them more noticable, so people will know automatically who directed the film therefore if the directors have a good reputation the audience will be more persuaded to go and see the film.
On both of the posters they have a tag line, in the first it says "believe in him" and in the second it says "If you believe in God you must believe in the Devil". Both of these tag lines show the viewer that the film is about the contrast between good and evil, God and the Devil. Also it suggests that this film has been made to change people opinions on wether the devil does really exist.
The title for the film "The Last Exorcism" is written going smaller to bigger, to add suspence to the film. It suggests that the word "Exorcism" is the most important out of the title. The font is very different from a usual font used on a film poster.
The Last Exorcism (Synopsis)
The Reverend Cotton Marcus had performed more exorcisms than he could remember before he visited the Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer. That would be a day he wouldn't soon forget. The last person Lious Sweetzer ever thought he would invite to his farm was an exorcist. But his young daughter Nell had been acting so strange. He could think of no other explanation for her behavior than possession by demons. But many long years of attending to those with questionable spiritual infestations has left Cotton a broken man. The faith he once proudly held up as a sheild against evil had deserted him long ago.
This day has brought Reverend Marcus to the Sweetzers farm where he plans to film a documentary of what he hopes to be his final exorcism. All of his past experience could not begin to prepare him for the terror that lay within. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it was soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he would encounter there. The Reverend must call upon a near-empty well of faith to protect Nell, his film crew and ultimately himself.
